I've met various king of boss. From view point of a subordinate, any character is okay.
The character is very unconfident to judge good boss. Regarding my past boss, some of them are very friendly but they are not good boss.
I think the deciding factor is creation of the opportunities. Experiences and opportunities are two sides of the same coin. Best boss judges both ability and possibility, gives purpose and create the opportunity to succeed the purpose.
For example, you’d like to be charge of global business. Bad boss would give the high goal and imply you will get new task if you can reach the goal. Good boss would also the high goal. However, they provide the opportunity or experience with the goal. They may give you opportunities of business trip to abroad or attending global meeting.
Additionally, good boss watch their subordinates carefully after setting the goal. They must be excellent decision maker and know when they have cut their subordinates’ work in. Sometimes the subordinates face the problem to reach the higher goal.
It is hard to see whether the subordinate continue to do their task by their selves alone.
Anyway boss is a tough work. The subordinates and the last boss always judge them. They have to work under pressure. The characters that good boss have to satisfy might be healthy and good at handling their stress.
